That's a form of self-hatred, and I'm not here for any of it.
That's not to say that Will's dating history has anything to do with not appreciating his lineage or roots.
Twitter user Cynthia G called out Sharpe and La Var Ball for dating and marrying White women while still receiving praise from the Black community, suggesting that Black women who date outside of their race, such as Serena Williams and Halle Berry, are shamed for doing so.
Black Men accept La Var Ball & Shannon Sharpe (who never dated black wmn) having white spouses & consider them pro black because, they spend part of their time talking about racism & part time sleeping with white women but, Halle Berry & Serena Williams are Sellouts & Bed Wenches.
But instead of owning his preference, Will deflected his reasoning onto the environment he grew up in. A black man dating white women isn't a problem, but it does come with some hefty baggage I'd be remiss not to mention.
Out of about 13 secondary schools I've attended, about 98 percent of them were predominantly white.
And the neighborhoods that housed these schools were obviously reflective of that.
Yet, when she spoke of her own dating history, it turns out that Rachel has only really ever dated black men.
And I can say that from my own experience, I've only ever dated black men as well.
Some might consider this a naive approach to dating white women. That’s why you, a black single man interested in dating white women need to accept some uncomfortable realities before you proceed. Say what you will about how much the world has changed in the recent decades since the civil right movement. And that history is one that has frowned upon interracial dating for as long as America has existed.
